Set Goals not Expectations
It has been more than two decades, since I have stepped in the profession of Life coaching and have discovered amazing yet amusing fact about life. The life revolves around creation, preservation and destruction. Anything created will have its life span and eventually will decay or decease.
The only thing permanent in the world is change, the universal truth of life. Life is about setting various goals, fighting for it and at last savoring the success. Setting the goal is the ultimate boon of life, but expectations is a non peril curse, we have to live with.
People consider goal and expectations as same, but both are yin and yang poles of life. Let’s explore the difference between the goal and expectations. Expectation is an exerted pressure applied that burdens the mind to compete causing stress, tension, anxiety and panic disorder.
While, goal is like fuel emission control always giving goose bumps and motivating you to work towards them freely and to the fullest potential. Fear of failure gives birth to expectations. The mind always seeks for the positive outcome, but life is equilibrium state between positive and negative. The emotional experiences faced with expectations are always negative, creating doubt, lack of self belief and disappointment.
Goal on the other side generates motivation, pride and inspiration to work harder even after multiple failures. Yes failure disappoints a person with a clear vision and goal, but strengthens the determination to rectify the mistakes and fight back. There is a popular proverb “Try and try again and you will succeed at last”.
Goals driving force is achieving the excellence, which expectation driving fuel is outcome. Outcome is never in our hands, therefore, sometimes you will succeed and sometimes will have to smell the barren soil.
Therefore, as being a professional in the field of Life coaching India, lay huge emphasis on setting a broad goal with commitment, determination and immense confidence.
